It sounds like your vehicle lost electic power, could be caused by a faulty ignition switch, or loose battery cable. Could also be a bad crankshaft position sensor.
DEAD ALTERNATOR
It all depends on every thing working right and freeway or town driving. 25 to 30+mpg would be realistic on a properly tuned motor.
This depends on what kind of driving you plan to do. If you mostly stay close to home and do little freeway driving an electric model may be right for you. If you have a long commute or plan on vacationing in your car, a hybrid would be your best choice.
Possibly, you have a broken timing belt.
It would be 65 MPH.
The ignition switch is bad.
One posibility to check would be the timing belt. If it broke while driving your car will stall and will not start again. If it was the timing belt you may have a more costly repair bill then just the belt.

no, i think it's illegal to walk on the freeway and you would get a ticket and get arrested by the police
Probably not. Check for any hoses or check to see where the watery fluid is dispensing from. More than likely the radiator.
Absolutely! Driving is a privilege ... not a right!!
Probably restricted coolant flow, or air flow across the radiator.
