There are a few reasons a daffodil might not bloom.

  • The clump has not been divided in a while, and there is not enough space/nutrients for a full bloom.
  • The clump was divided when the flowers were blooming, so that the bulbs did not store enough energy for the next year's blooms.
  • These plants grew from seed and are not yet old enough to bloom (it takes 5-7 years for a daffodil grown from seed to produce a flower).
  • The plant is too shaded. To bloom the plant needs to be in full sun or partial shade.
