Before Tybalt's death the plan was to wait until the marriage was consummated and so could not be annulled, and then tell the parents who would have to accept a fait accompli. They would not likely consider the possibility of ending the marriage by making Juliet a widow. After Tybalt's death, Mrs. Capulet at least would certainly be prepared to do so.
