There are numerous reasons that organizations use hot-desking, a few of them include:
1. Save money on real estate costs. Real estate costs are usually the 2nd most expensive line item on a balance sheet and if everyone does not need a permanent desk then thousands of dollars per desk can be saved as that space can be used for other reasons or even eliminated.
2. Many organizations need their employees to work together as teams so depending on the project, employees will sit in different places of the facility based on the project.
3. Rising trend of allowing people to work from home - these employees don't need a desk but need a way to schedule a desk when they need to come do to the office.
