It depends on your definition of renewable sources. Dams and the reservoirs that supply them take up alot of space, solar panel take up alot more space with less output, windmills also require alot of room and nowhere near the output of a large hydroelectric dam. A dam puts out alot of power all the time while solar and wind are not available all the time. Nuclear is a "renewable" source as some make their own fuel with no pollution from the plant during the generation process, but the fuel has to be disposed of.

Use of different energgy sources including fuels and renewable sources to provide a nations electricity supply?

The use of different energy sources including fuels and renewable sources to provide a nations electricity supply is referred to as clean energy or renewable energy. Examples are solar power, biofuels, geothermal, and hydro-power.

What energy is used to generate electricity in China?

China mainly use non-renewable sources of energy such as coal. However, they are acknowledging and trying to increase the use of renewable sources of energy. The largest source of renewable energy is hydroelectric power from dams such as the Three Gorges Dams. Lack of energy is starting to become a exponential problem in China, and in cities such as Shanghai, certain factories are only allowed to operate during night time so there will enough electricity during the day time.

Compare traditional methods of generating electricity versus renewable energy sources?

Traditional methods use a supply of steam to drive a turbine/generator. The steam can be produced using fossil fuels or nuclear energy. Renewable sources would be wind or solar power mainly. Hydro power could be considered renewable also. These methods don't involve the steam cycle, which can only be up to about 40 percent efficient.

What do geothermal nuclear wind and water power have in common as sources of electricity?

They are all renewable sources of energy. This means that they can be used for ever.

What non renewable resources are used to generate electricity?

We burn peat, wood, various forms of coal, oil, natural gas and uranium (nuclear power) to generate electricity. These are all fossil fuels that can only be used once, and the carbon dioxide they give off contributes to the build up of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. //Actually, peat and wood are renewable and so is solar, wind and water generated power.

How does renewable source provide energy?

Wind, water, solar and other renewable sources of power can all be harnessed to generate electricity.

Most of the energy resources used to generate electricity are renewable.?

No. Most of the energy resources used to generate electricity are non-renewable, like the burning of coal, oil and natural gas. Hydro power and nuclear power are the only important renewable sources. Wind and solar are not yet valid sources of power.

Can renewable energy and non-renewable energy can be used at the same time?

Answer : YES Renewable power sources and non-renewable power souces are both used to generate electricity, which is then transfered through the 'power grid' (power lines) to different houses. Electricity generated from renewable sources is not different in any way to electricity generated by non-renewable sources. Therefore, they can both be used at the same t5ime

Can renewable energy sources generate large amounts of electricity?

Sure they can. Hydro power for instance can have huge capacity.

What are two alternative methods used to harness renewable sources?

Solar panels and Concentrated Solar Towers generate electricity from the sun.Wind turbines use the power of the wind to spin electricity turbines.

Why is it important to conserve renewable resources.?

It is important to conserve non renewable sources of energy such as coal and oil because they are running out. If we burn all the oil to generate electricity then there will be none left for other useful things we use oil for.

Is electricity non renewable or renewable?

Sources of energy are termed renewable and non-renewable. Electricity can come from many sources including power plants, wind farms, hydroelectric plants and solar panels. Power plants that burn fossil fuels are using non-renewable fuel sources, but energy from solar panels use renewable energy. A power plant can use biofuels, which are renewable.

Why is it important to conserve non renewable resources?

It is important to conserve non renewable sources of energy such as coal and oil because they are running out. If we burn all the oil to generate electricity then there will be none left for other useful things we use oil for.

Is electricity renewable or non renewable?

Electricity is a non-renewable resource. Once you have used it, it won't come back. You have to generate more. You can generate electricity in any number of ways. You can use solar cells, wind power, water falling through turbines, you can burn coal, oil, natural gas, etc. You can generate electricity by running on treadmills or using stationary bikes. It's all electricity, but some of the methods use renewable sources and others do not.A: If electricity is produced by solar, wind, tides, waves, biomass, or geothermal energy then it is a renewable resource. Otherwise it is not.A: Electricity is largely produced by power stations burning fossil fuels like coal, oil, and natural gas; Nuclear fission can also be used to produce electricity. All these are not renewable - there is a finite amount of fuel in the world and when it is used up, that's it.Hydro, wind, tidal, geothermal, biomass, and solar power are all regarded as renewable forms of energy because they aren't finite. We use their energy, and it still keeps coming.
