The 14K ring is cheaper than the 18K option, so you will be able to stick to a more resitrictive budget. It is also harder and more durable, meaning a) men prefer it as it won't get damaged when doing manly activities, b) you can put more diamonds in it without worrying about the prongs coming loose and the diamond falling out, c) it will last longer because it's more hard-wearing than higher K gold rings.

What ring should you buy a 14k or 10k?

Well it really depends on how durable you will need the ring to be. While 14K might cost more, and eventually be worth more in the end, that ring will not stand up to regular wear-and-tear as easily as a 10K ring. Gold is a naturally soft metal, and the higher the content, the easier your ring will scratch/dent/deform. I am of course talking about the general scrapes and marks you get from every-day activities.

Is 14K gold more expensive than 18K to buy?

14k gold is 14 parts gold mixed with 10 parts other (cheaper) metal (58.3 % gold) 18k gold is 18 parts gold mixed with 6 parts other metal (75% gold) So 18k is more expensive than 14k

How much would a 14K amethyst and diamond yellow gold ring cost at average?

It depends on the carat weights of the stones and the weight of the gold in the ring. Amethyst is one of the least expensive gemstones (I'm assuming your looking for purple amethyst, there is also green amethyst). The cost of the ring will be determined by the carat weight and quality of the diamonds and the gold weight, and most importantly where you buy it. I tell people to never buy jewelry at malls, the quality is very poor and the prices are marked up tremendously. I would look for an online jeweler who has reputable feedback. Your more likely to get a better price because online jewelers don't have the overhead costs of a jeweler with a physical location. I wouldn't pay more than $500 for the type of ring you are looking for unless it's huge with large diamonds. A nice size amethyst stone with diamond accents in 14K yellow gold will most likely run you 150-400 depending.

How much would a 18k gold HGE ring weighing at 7.9g worth?

HGE stands for heavy gold elctroplate, which means that your ring is not gold, it only has a microscopic ammount of gold ontop of some worthless metal. Even if it was gold, you didn't include the weight. People don't buy gold rings because they are collectable or unique, they buy them for EXACTLY how much GOLD is in them, they want the GOLD! There are so many of these questions on here, asking how much is my gold ring worth... How are we supposed to know if you don't include the WEIGHT of the ring??!!

14k Gold: The Benefits of 24k Without the Cost?

In recent years, the price of gold has hit record highs. Investors commonly use commodities like gold and oil to hedge their bets and to protect inflation. In times of economic uncertainty, gold and precious metals are seen as safe havens in which to store money while the markets stabilize. While most of the gold that is traded in the major stock markets in the world never makes it to the consumer, a small amount of gold is reserved for industrial purposes and for making jewelry. If you are interested in gold jewelry, do yourself a favor and choose 14k gold to save yourself some money without sacrificing eye appeal. The gold content of an object is determined by the term karats, which is a measure of how pure the gold is. Pure gold is called 24 karat (24k) gold and is the most expensive type of gold that is used to make fine jewelry. In order to save money and to give jewelry additional properties like hardness, jewelers combine pure gold with other metals to form what are called gold alloys. When shopping for jewelry, you may see terms like 10k or 14k gold, which indicates the gold content. 14k gold is made up of 14 parts of gold and 10 parts of some other metals and minerals. In other words, the object is made up of 58.3% pure gold. If a 14k gold ring is not made up of pure gold, then why is it desirable? Well, for one thing, pure gold is extremely soft. Due to this property, pure gold rings can be bent out of shape easily and scratched, which can damage the ring's appearance. By mixing pure gold with other metals, jewelers can increase the strength of the piece, making it much more durable, but without sacrificing the look of gold. The main reason for choosing a 14k gold piece of jewelry is that the price is substantially cheaper than pure 24k gold. 14k gold represents the best of both worlds. There is enough gold content in the piece of jewelry so that it looks like gold and it is strong enough to resist the wear and tear of everyday life. Yet, instead of paying for something that is pure gold, you are only paying for something that is a little over half pure gold, which can save you a lot of money. For example, a ring that has one ounce of pure gold in it may cost double a ring that is 14k gold. While gold prices are at an all time high, choosing 14k gold is an economical way to buy jewelry that has the look of pure gold without the high prices.
