I have not met any atheists who mock religion, so this is a hard question to answer. It may be that the question is based on experiences when an atheist has mocked excessive piety, rather than religion itself. Or perhaps it is a defensive ploy in the face of assertive preaching, with the intention that the preacher leave the atheist alone rather than continue with a lost cause.

Some atheists may not like religion, or even think that religion is harmful for humanity.

Why would atheist disagree with people converting to a religion?

Atheists do not have a position to agree or disagree with people converting to anything, it is the convertors own choice. However some atheists would disagree with converting to a religion because they believe religion to be untrue and thus that converting someone would be to feed him or her untruths.

What do Atheists say about respecting others?

There are no rules of behavior that apply to all atheists because it is not an organized religion. Some atheists are very respectful of others and some are not.

Are atheists jerks?

Some atheists certainly qualify as what many people would call "jerks" but many are not. The same goes for religious people of all faiths. Whether or not you are a good person has little or nothing to do with your religion or lack thereof.

Do atheists believe in evil?

Atheism isn't a belief system, so there's no reason why atheists would share the same beliefs. So, doubtless, some atheists believe in evil and some don't.

What religion is an Atheist?

Religion does not have to be mystical or non-rational (no offense), religion by definition is a particular system of faith. Some atheist don't practice religion, yes. but other atheists like, well, me and the others, have our own religion... which in our case we prefer to have Science as our particular system of faith, so technically, some of us have a religion. so, going back to your question... the answer would be Scientism.Another opinion:Atheism isn't a religion by any means. There is no bible, no dogma, or rituals. And many Atheists will disagree on many things. The only identifier of being an Atheist, is the proclimation that they do not believe any god claims, especially without evidence.I suppose some atheists might think they're a religion, but by definition it isn't. Religion requires "faith". Faith is acceptance of a concept without, or in spite of contrary, evidence.

What percent of atheists revert to Christianity?

Revert is the wrong word in this case. We are all atheists at birth. Religion is a learned behavior and children are indoctrinated into the religion of their parents. Your question illustrates the arrogance of religiosity. While some atheists may adopt religious beliefs there are more than Christianity to choose from. In any case, there are no statistics.

Where do Atheists practice their religion?

atheists aren't religious they believe there is no God therefore they do not practice religoin -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- on the contrary. Religion does not have to be mystical or non-rational (no offense), religion by definition is a particular system of faith. Why do people hate other people when they are atheist?

Is this a serious question? 70% of philosophers (often philosophers are ethicists) are atheist, buddhists are atheistic, babies are atheist, many many scientists who work to make life better for the rest of the world are atheists, many physicists, biologists, especially psychologists, and anthropologists, many many many people are atheist. Scientists, doctors, people who do things selflessly not selfishly are atheists. They work long hours and try to make it a better place for people to live. I'm an atheist and right now I am typing this from a Malaria laboratory @ Johns Hopkins. Now, let's get it clear that there are some atheists who like religion, some atheists who don't care about religion, and some atheists who dislike religion. Most atheists don't care about religion and are 'live and let live' kind of people. Personally, I think some religion is good, and some is bad. I find it that many religious people get upset when religion is on the table and being criticized. I think it is because their faith is not very strong. Religion has a lot to be criticized for, especially the big ones, be it doctrine, indoctrination of children, the fact that it MUST be believed or else, morals of religion and how it contradicts normal morals. Blood sacrifices, arguing over it, and just plain old weird stories, etc. Atheists who are angry at religion most often come from religious households, and since religion does not want to be questioned most of the time, these types of atheists generally feel that religion has a stronghold on our culture and an oppressive feel to it. The spokespeople for religion are often the worse because of the radicalness of the books themselves. Some of these people have mental problems, and some are normal, but just radical, and transfer their radical viewpoints to their congregations. The facts are: THE LOUDEST AMONG THEM WILL GET THE MOST ATTENTION. Atheists dislike all the bad things that come from religion, and since religious people don't like criticizing their own religions publically, you will find more atheists doing so.

What type of religion does Russia have?

Do atheists start believing in God when they are afraid to die?

It has been said that science is concerned with truth, politics with justice, and religion with hope. Atheists believe that they are realists and that death is final, with no hope of continuation of a spiritual life afterwards. Nevertheless, of the millions of atheists in the world, there would no doubt be some who, when faced with their final hours, choose to hope for an afterlife. Religion does offer comfort in times of need, and there is no reason to deny an atheist this comfort just because there is no objective evidence that this hope will be fulfilled.

What religion were the Germans that killed the Jews in the Holocaust?

Where did atheists come from if America was created for religious freedom?

Another answer from our community: Atheists come from throughout the world. It is the same reason why Muslims, and Hindus and Buddhists and Pagans and Christians and every other persecuted religious group came to America for. Why would you want to live in a place where you were being beaten or shunned or targeted for practicing a certain religion, when there was a new land that promised equality and freedom to all. In the end its all about the struggle for freedom happiness, and wealth.
