There are multiple reasons for vacuums to break belts. The belt might be worn, or might be of poor quality. The roller might not spin freely, which can cause the belt to heat up quickly and break in short order. Also, the roller might be jammed up so it cannot spin at all. We should also note that if the user runs over things like a sock, or allows the machine to pick up the corner of a rug, the belt could quickly become a casualty. Some think that if a machine runs very hot because of a clog, full bag or dirty filters, the motor runs so hot that it severely heats the belt and causes it to fail soon after installation.
