A pie graph is useful for illustrating parts of a total. What, in this case would your total be? The total enrolment over a number of years? If so, it is likely that the different segments are nearly the same size and the human eye is not very good at discriminating between small differences in angles. You would not use a pie graph because, as it says, a pie graph is useful for illustrating parts of a total. if you want to do an over time thing, you use a histogram
