Google is a search engine because it has a lot of websites. It is a very good search engine.
(1) The retrieval of any item, like a page or a graphic, from a Web server called a page hit.(2) Any time a piece of data matches criteria you set. For example, each of the matches from a Yahoo or any other search engine search is called a hit.
the answer for that is AltaVista and other examples.
On a ping test we found: 1) Google 8.29ms 2) bing 15.13ms (2x longer) 3) yahoo 31.9ms (4x Google) This may be an indication that Google is the fastest search engine. Ping only measures the "distance" from your computer to another computer on the net. All your test shows is the Google server computers are much "closer" to your computer than the other server computers. It tells nothing of the server computer or search software speed. The search engines themselves tell you how long the search took, use that figure to compare.
That type of engine is called a spider, and the search engine Dogpile works in this way.
I believe you mean "metasearch". It's a search engine which combines the results of OTHER search engines.
to search for information and other items that are of importance or not so
It is known as a meta-search engine.
A metasearch engine is a search tool that sends user requests to several other search engines and/or databases and aggregates the results into a single list or displays them according to their source.
