First, if you truly "wanted to" it might be because: a) You are a student with limited time, b) You are retired and want limited activity, c) You want something to do, but are not hurting financially, d) You are holding down more than one job, to make ends meet, e) You have a temporary need for more income, etc.
Second, you may HAVE TO because there are no "full time" jobs available for which you are qualified for, trained or educated, so you are "underemployed". In today's economy, MANY people are working part time because they need and not want to.
