If it is running at the time it back fires your timing is off about 22 degrees. if it happnes when you are trying to start it then you timing is off 180 degrees.... Your intake valve is open when the spark plug fires.
A carburetor air intake screen.
Worn camshaft, bent pushrod, burned intake valve, incorrect firing order,
AnswerSounds to me that your vehicle is off time. Check the timing on it. If the timing is off it will backfire through the carb and also if it is cross wired (firing order wrong) it will backfire through the carb.
yes, backfiring is always due to ignition or timing problems. Backfiring through the carb can be a symptom of a lean condition.
probably 180 deg out on timing
Yes...all valves bent...smacked piston...good old interference engines. Started cranking really fast cause valves stuck open from overheat then...BAM...backfire out intake after only 15seconds of cranking...Head back off again. answering own question. Impossible to say. You need to find out why it backfired. Suggest you do a compression test.
For those Landcruisers that are equipped with a snorkel, it allows the vehicle to cross through bodies of water which normally would be impassable. The snorkel is attached to the air intake for the engine and effectively raises the location of the air intake such that the vehicle can drive through water that normally would be sucked into the air intake causing a stall.
In automotive engine terms, the air intake system would include everything between and including the air filter housing to the heads on the engine. The automotive HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) system also has an air intake system. This is where fresh air or recycled cabin air circulates in the cabin area.
carbs are out of sync. and if that's not it, the engine is shot. just happened to me
u have an intake valve bent or sticking open. run a compression check with all the plugs out and butterfly to carb open.
The intake stroke, number one in a 4 cycle engine.
Yes. If an intake manifold gasket was not installed properly or has somehow become damaged the engine will pull air through the opening.
