Check pLugs and wires and the vibration my be from brake pads or warped rotors
My 1997 Honda CRV is making a rattling noise when driving in rough roads
Assuming something isn't broke it is more likely the strut that is worn out. Bearing would grind all the time. When the strut is worn out and you go over a bump the tire will leave the ground which lets it vibrate and make noise.
My 2001 Tahoe did the same thing. Everytime I hit rough road, speed bumps, or even a tight turn, I would hear a rattle in front and a vibration in the steering wheel. I asked a mechanic at Tires Plus to look at it and he said the steering column shaft was the culprit. $125 later (which included labor), problem was solved.
Possibly shocks are tired and slack and are banging, they'd need changing if that were the case and your steering would be affected, if your control of the car is sound, then perhaps exhaust is rattling and just needs adjusting
I have a 2001 I had the same problem when driven through rough roads and railroad tracks, I replaced the front struts and that solved the problem. I have a 2000 that rattles too. Looking for the answer.
Where and when it makes the noise is imortant information. Most common is power steering pump when turning wheel quickly: Check power steering fluid level. If low, add proper fluid (check with engine off!!) Also, noise when driving, esp. over rough road going slow, ball joints: lube font end.
have the bearing housing checked they run abut $150 ea
Grinding, rough steering, fluid leaking from seals.
if it sounds like a tinny rattling noise when in park, reverse or when driving over bumps or rough road and if it sounds like its coming from behind one of the front wheels then it could well be a worn brake disc shield, the shield is constructed in 2 parts and held together with pot rivets which wear and makes this horrid rattling.had this prob on my 2000 e39 528i.disc shields/stone guards cost about
The engine is running rough. Could be in need of a tune up.
Motor is idling rough.
