It means the reverse clutch pack has gone out in your transmission and needs to be rebuilt or replaced.
That's a sign that your transmission is going bad. Get it service.
You need to seek help immediately from a transmission professional. If you continue to drive the car with this problem you may do serious damage to the transmission.
It might be a problem with your transmission because not all mx6's stall when you put it in drive or reverse.
Could be a number of things, check your your transmission fluid, if the level is fine, it may be your transmission or clutch. Most likely your clutch, which is cheaper than a transmission.
if you feel or hear it engage when put in reverse but will not move or even roll down the drive way. But rolls fine in neutral. a clutch pack is engaged that should not be.
Possible shifter or linkage problem? ie: not actually going into reverse. Ummmm, you didn't zoom the tires in reverse and blow the gear did you... Hope that helps.
My daughters 1997 Saturn SC2 coupe automatic transmission has no reverse? what would cause this?? and how can i fix it without replacing the transmission.
i am sorry to say but the low and reverse band has went out of your transmission and you need to replace it before the high bands go to
probably something wrong with the transmission like a gear fault or a transmission glitch or overheat. Take it to a repair shop or do some test maitanenence yourself.
My trailblazer works fine both forward and backwards! Yours however sounds like you blew the reverse band in the transmission and need a new tranny. Or your against something that is holding you from behind.
It means the transmission is bad.
As soon as possible check the transmission fluid level.
