Becuase to "see" something, you are seeing light reflecting off of it. Light bounces around, reflecting off of things and it's that reflected light which your retinas pick up and you "see" it. When there is no light, there is nothing being reflected and you don't see anything.

How do you see the book on your tablecan you see the book in absolute darkness?

-- You "see" only when light enters your eye. -- You 'see' an object only when light from that object enters your eye. -- If the object itself doesn't generate light, then light from some other source must illuminate the object, and some of that light must reflect from the object to your eye. -- In absolute darkness, there is no light, and you do not 'see'.

When we see an object, we see light that is what?

When we see an object, we see light that is reflected off of the object and into our eyes.

What are the 3 different ways that light reacts to solid objects?

It reflects off of the object, and this is the light we see when we view opaque objects; it can be absorbedby the object, and we do not see this light; or the light can pass through the object in such a way that we can clearly 'see through' the object, such as transparent glass, or light can pass through the object and only appear as a glow, not an image, as is the case with some types of translucent plastic, frosted glass or other kinds of material.

Do you see an object when light from your eyes hit that object?

You can see an object like a book because?

Why canwe not see reflection in the absence of light?

No, to see objects without the presence of light is impossible. Even a little light will help you see an object. Light has to reflect from the object to the eye to allow you to see it.

Which colors of light do you see when you look at an opaque object?

You see the colors of light that are reflected off the object. The colors you see depend on the wavelengths of light that the object reflects. For example, if an object reflects green light and absorbs all other colors, you will perceive the object as green.

Can you see an object with no light?

No.

Why is is that you can't see a non-luminous object if there is no luminous object present?

The fact that we see things is based on LIGHT. Light from an object must come to our eyes - whether the object emits light itself, or reflects it from some other light source.

When you see the color of an object is all light being absorbed by that object except for the color being experienced?

Yes, when we see the color of an object, it means that all other colors of light are being absorbed by the object and only the specific color reflected is being experienced by our eyes. This reflected color is what we perceive as the color of the object.

Is shadow always black?

If Shadow is a horse, then no. Shadow may be white or brown. Else, if you are referring to a shadow produced by blocking out light with an object, then yes. When we do not see light, our view is in black. All other colours that we see are produced from light. Since shadows are created by excluding light from an object, we should only see black.

What color of light do you see when you look through a colored transparent or translucent object?

You would see any color that transmits through the transparent or translucent object. However, it depends on what the transparent or translucent object's color it is. If it was red-colored glass, light would transmit red and you could see everything in red.
