There are 4 types of occurrence on why do you get virus while downloading Files or Videos.
1.) The File has been created as a virus and not a normal safe file. For example, using a crack software is a real Malware threat on your PC. This is almost impossible for videos but it is possible (see number 2).
2.) Code Injecting or/and virus company. Other authors who protect their work from abusive spammers use some sort of Bot (a pre-programmed file use to do a repeated task) to get rid of them. Sometimes, hackers put virus and the normal file on a WinRar file so that after downloading, the file would be automatically rejected (because of windows defender or any antivirus). For videos, maybe while converting the video into a new format, the virus writer wrote and injected codes.
3.) Hacker Interference. Maybe a hacker has been watching or listening to your PC and put some backdoors etc. on your PC
4.) Your PC has been infected! Maybe your PC has been already infected by pushbot, worm or trojans. It may affect all your files and your files on future if not removed immediately.

No, it is not. Limewire does not offer virus protection. The only way I'd go about downloading ANYTHING off of Limewire is if I had good anti-virus software.
You can download music and video files from websites by putting in the hyperlink. This is good especially for downloading YouTube videos.
It doesn't if you watch what you download. You have to check the file, seeing as some malicious people name files incorrectly to hide that you're actually downloading a virus. If you make sure that the file you download isn't a virus, then there's no way to directly get a virus from that file. -andre
The best ways are avoid downloading a virus are to avoid downloading or agreeing to download anything that you are not 100% sure of the source. The second is to make use of scanner anti-virus systems that examine the downloads as they occur. The third is an anti-virus system that scans files on the computer, post-download.
