because pets like dogs gets dirty and stuff. Also fleas loves dirty things so
you might have to wash your pet!!!*^^*
Fleas live in the outdoor environment and once a flea gets onto your pet it lays eggs leading to more fleas, enough fleas can suck so much blood from your pet that they develop anemia and eventually die so use flea prevention and keep on top of them. Fleas are not discriminat..they bite humans too!
There's fleas everywhere outside. They don't just go on dirty pets, they even get on clean ones too. Don't expect your dog/cat to be immune to fleas just because they're spotless.
More animals than cats and dogs have fleas. We notice them more on these animals because we live in close contact with them. Fleas live on mammals and birds, (but not on aquatic mammals such as seals, possibly because they can drown.)
Fleas are small parasitic insects that suck the blood of their hosts to feed. There are more than 2500 species of flea and each has adaptations suiting it to a particular host. These adaptations do not necessarily mean it cannot feed from another species of host. Rat fleas can feed from humans and vice versa. They are more likely to feed from another species than that to which they are specifically adapted, where the more than one species of host is living in close contact, such as dogs or cats and people in a household.
Fleas are reduced in numbers through hygiene and treatment, including washing and grooming, cleaning of clothing and bedding, and flea specific medications and treatments.
I do not have fleas, but it is possible for humans to fleas. Usually though fleas stick to dogs and cats etc.
While cat fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and dog fleas (Ctenocephalides cannis) are two different species, most of the fleas found on dogs are actually cat fleas.
Fleas on a rabbit are just called fleas, and a rabbit with fleas is just called a rabbit with fleas. If your rabbit has fleas, the safest way to treat it is to take the rabbit to a vet.
