Although its cheap, when burned they create 'greenhouse gases'(carbon,nitrogen,etc.). Those greenhouse gases go into the atmosphere where they are trapped. The gasses warm the earth and cause global warming.It may not seem like much but it is a big deal and may cause the next ice age. This is because as it gets warmer storms will increase. Also since the ozone is thin at the ice caps (north and south poles) they will melt and raise the sea level eventually flooding coastal areas. The heat will also reverse currents and eventually freezing the United States causing the next ice age. Allot like the movie 'the day after tomorow' but in a longer period of time .
