Mushroom cells are larger than most plant cells. So if you had a powerful enough microscope, you could see the cells quite well. The same is true for onion cells. In fact, onion cells are larger than mushroom cells. For most cells, you would need an extremely powerful microscope used in science laboratories. For these, you don't need a magnification level as high.

Well, there are 2 answer to this, I'm not sure which it is. so um #1 is the answer is because of the magnification. And #2 is 'cause scientists do that so they can identify cells and things.

maybe because all living things need a place to live and raw materials, and a mushroom is a raw material AND a place to live for the cells.

All living things are made of cells, a mushroom cap is alive, and so you would expect to see cells if you looked in a mushroom cap under a microscope.
