It's better to make your gas/oil mixture richer, i.e. more oil added, than leaner, i.e. less oil added. A leaner mixture, such as 50:1 will make your motor run "hotter", but won't give enough lubricity to the piston, resulting in shorter life for your mower. You should use AT LEAST a 32:1 mixture, and a 25:1 won't hurt it, but it might make it smoke a little, and might eventually foul your spark plug. But at least you'll know your piston and cylinder are getting plenty of lubrication.
