Will it run? Yes. Is it safe? No. The materials in the fuel system, carb, tank, lines, etc are not compatible with use with ethanol.
Be very weary of "conversion kits" that do not address the fuel system as a whole.
1. You need to rejet carb, around 40% larger jetting.
2. You need to drop the tank, replace the rubber lines with a viton or other alcohol safe rubber.
3. Clean the tank, it will be nasty after 30 years of various fuels and addtives.
4. Once jetted for E85, you are stuck with it until you rejet for gas.
Yes, it will run on it, but the terrible low compression and pathetic retarded camshafts will not be efficient or have decent mpg. I would save the $ on converting it and run gas. A modern fuel injected engine or building a purpose built ethanol engine with 12-15:1 compression and many other improvements, with that it is easy to get better mpg and power than a gas engine.
