The first time i read through them i didnt notice anything at all. It was only once i learned that brandon sanderson was mormon and a little bit about mormonism in general that i could see some influences. but you really shouldnt let it color your understanding of his books. he never preaches or anything. in fact in the stormlight archive he makes some great points for atheism lol. These are simply fantasy stories that do deal with some in-world religious themes but definitely not trying to convert anyone or anything like that.
Brandon Sanderson was selected by Robert Jordan's wife and editor, Harriet McDougal, based on the quality of his books and a eulogy he posted on his blog following Jordan's death. According to Sanderson, he was not expecting the offer to complete the series, but was excited and honored to do so. For more information, see brandonsanderson.com.
