It looks pretty likely. Back in 2008, EA tried to buy Take 2, the company that runs the 2K sports franchise. Since EA Sports already have the top selling sports games in football, Basketball, hockey, and soccer, the only thing they would be getting out of the sale would be Baseball (and removing a competitor). EA isn't allowed to produce an MLB video game since Take 2 has exclusive rights to the MLB and MLBPA. If EA had bought Take Two, they would have also gained the rights to the league.
Recently there have been rumors that indicate that the MLB will not renew its exclusive license with Take Two, allowing EA to regain rights. It would be surprising to see the MLB pass up on an opportunity as MVP 2005 was considered to be one of the best and most popular baseball games of all time.
