Most Christian denominations say that for forgiveness of sins, you must not only love God, but seek his forgiveness, through prayer or confession, and truly repent the sins. Repentance requires being sorry for each sin that you have committed, which may arguably involve offering restitution or an apology to anyone hurt or offended. It also requires a genuine effort not to commit the same sin again.
