The ATI Mobility is a 512MB card? It would have to be because anything less would not be suitable. Skyrim will run on any machine capable of prebuffering up to 2G of game data, as long as you meet the minimum graphic memory requirements and CPU speed. If you are running background services and an OS with high CPU and RAM demands, then that would only leave you with 700MB to do that and the game will stagger badly or possibly crash. The ATI Radeon 5xxx 1G, board powered silent series is under $50 nowadays and it runs the game fine, but I would suggest a card with a direct connection to the PSU as the board might sneak power away from the CPU and RAM.
