The fuel in a 1996 Chevy Tahoe is in the same place it has been in every car I've ever had: THE FUEL TANK. ()
It is inside of the fuel tank.
A faulty fuel pump will make a 1996 Chevy Tahoe hard to start after it sets for a few hours. The pump can allow fuel to leak back into the gas tank and starve the engine for fuel.
Chevy did not use a reset / Inertia switch on there trucks.

Check fuel pressure, fuel pressure regulator.
GM vehicles do not use inertia/reset switches.
The fuel pump is in the gas tank if it is bad i recommend replacing the wiring harness that is connected to the top of the fuel pump.
