Yes it will fit but it is not a direct bolt in swap. Even though the salvage yards will tell you it is.
the 98 has line up pins in the roof
the 05 has line up pins in the track assembly, remove the ones in the track assembly by drilling them out.
the motor and on the 98 uses an external control module
the motor on the 2005 has a built in module but it will plug into the harness on the 98.
use the complete motor/module assembly from the 05.
the rear extension motor support from the 98 must be used
the one from the 05 will not attach to the 98
also the 98 has tabs to attach the little cover that allows access to the motor
the 05 doesn't have these and the cannot be used from the 98.
I used a couple pieces of Velcro the reattach the cover
finally the drain tubes on the 98 are left to right at front and at an angle in the rear.
the drain tubes on the 05 are at an angle in the front and front to back in the rear.
the rear ones are no problem at all plenty of slack in the tubes and can easily be attached.
the front ones are a P.I.A. but with a little tugging can be attached also.
HOPE THIS HELPS IN YOUR FIX
no it wont fit.
idont believe so... measure bolt patern and check the offset

Anything from the 1997 to 2000 will fit.
There is no 96 Expedition. The first year for the Expedition was 1997.

Yes they should fit fine
Yes it will fit. My 1998 Ford Expedition XLT handle everything I trow at it. From A to Z. I loaded it with 20 sheets of sheet rock and other big stuff.
As long as the wire hardness are the same . it will fit.
