An appliance that was designed to work on 230 v will not work on a 120 v power supply. It is possible to buy a transformer to convert the voltage: the transformer has to be the right size (or larger) for the amount of power/current required.

Alternatively in the USA a 208 v or 240v supply can be found in most houses, so the only difference is the frequency of the supply, which might or might not be a problem depending on what kind of appliance it is. For a motor, the 60 Hz frequency could be a problem.

What is the standard power supply?

In North America, Japan and some of northern South America, standard power supply is within 10% of 120V at 60Hz in Europe, Australia, most of South America, Africa and Asia, and New Zealand it's 230V at 50 Hz.

What voltage does the power supply uses in US?

Input would be 120v at 60hz. Standard US wall power.

Can a 230V 50Hz Rice Cooker used in 220V 60Hz circuit?

Most likely, yes. Most devices has been manufactured with an idea that they will be used in areas where the supply power frequency is 50 or 60Hz.

Hi I'm a barber. can i buy a transformer that can give an output of 120V and at 60HZ in England. Its for my clippers and trimmers. Is there such thing?

You can get a transformer that converts the UK's 230V power to 120V, but you cannot get a transformer that will convert from 50Hz to 60Hz. Often, US equipment can work, except that they will work hotter and less efficiently on the 50Hz power. Consult your clipper and trimmer documentation - you may find that it will work just fine on 50Hz.

Can you plug a 50hz 230v refrigerator to a 60hz 230v supply?

It is not advisable because the motor would run 20% faster which might produce damaging overpressure in the thermal circuit.

Will a 230V 50Hz drain pump of a washing machine work on a 220V 60Hz?

No! Normally not, the recistance in the windings is to hig on 60Hz and the pump motor has not power enough to work propelly. This happened to myself when I connected my Whirpool AWE 7519 to 230V 60Hz. Europian model for 50Hz.

What power supply is used on Bermuda Islands?

Same as the American standard, 110/120V at 60Hz. A Google search for "International Mains Voltages" will provide lists of the voltages and frequencies in many countries.

Can you wire your home with both 120v 60Hz and 230v 50Hz electricity?

No, these are two different distribution systems. The North American system uses 60 Hz and the European system uses 50 Hz.

How many watts in 120v 60Hz?

You need amps

How do you connect a 230volt 60Hz air conditioning unit with one phase wire to a 240 volt 60Hz two phase south American supply?

Treat the USA 2 Phases as 1, its called split phase, instead of Line and Neutral, you ahve two phases but they deliver 240v, this will not hurt a 230v machine as the chances are that you are NOT getting 240v supply at the delivery point anyway. As long as the machine si 60Hz and supply 60Hz, you will not have a problem
