Can you shoot 38 Smith and Wesson not special in a 357 magnum?

No. It is a fatter diameter than .357, and will not fit. The bullet diameter is .361, instead of .357.

Can you shoot 357 mag rounds in a 38 pistol?

No. However, .38 Special ammo CAN be safely fired in a .357 Magnum firearm. Both cartridges use a bullet that is .357 in diameter- but the .357 magnum is longer, and more powerful.

What caliber is a 357 magnum?

The actual bullet diameter (as well as that of the .38 Special) is .357.

Can you shoot regular 38 caliber ammunition in a 38 special?

NO, a 38 Special is actually .357 caliber. NO, a 38 Special is actually .357 caliber. A 38 special is NOT a 357 magnum. Both bullet heads are about .357 in diameter. The difference between the 38 and 357 is the length of the brass case. The 357 brass case is a bit longer then the 38 special case, and the gun powder load is a bit higher then the 38 special load...... Further, you can shoot a 38 special case in the 357 magnum revolver, however, you cannot fire a 357 magnum round in the 38 special. The 38 special cylinder is too short for the 357 round......

Can a 357 magnum shoot any 38 special plus p caliber bullet?

yes, but not too often in a light weight 38 revolver.

Can you shoot 38 special in other caliber guns?

You can shoot them in a .357 Magnum revolver, but that's about it.

Can a 38 shoot 357 ammunition?

No! A firearm chambered for the .38 cannot safely shoot .357 magnum ammunition. The .357 has a longer case and overall cartridge length, and a much stronger powder charge. The .357 magnum will not fit into a .38 revolver, and if it did the chamber pressure would exceed the design of the .38 and could cause catastrophic failure of the firearm, in an injurious or deadly way. However, you can shoot a .38 special round safely through a .357 magnum as they both share the same caliber bullet. The same holds true with shooting a .44 special through a .44 magnum.

Can a revovler that takes a 38 special cartridge also shoot a 357 magnum cartridge?

NO,NO,NO,NO,NO.........you CANNOT shoot the 357 cartridge in a 38 special, but you can shoot a 38 special cartridge in a 357 pistol.................the 38 cal. cylinder was not made to house the 357 cartridge or take the pressure.............

Can you use 38 special ammo in your 357?

Yes, you can shoot 38 specials through a .357 magnum revolver.

Can yo shoot a 357 sig bullet from a 357 mag gun?

No. The two cartridges are not interchangeable. The .357 Sig got its name because it was an attempt to replicate the performance of the .357 Magnum cartridge in a semi-auto pistol. This was done by taking a 9mm bullet, and placing it in a necked down .40 S&W casing, whereas the .357 Magnum is a much longer, and rimmed, cartridge, developed simply by lengthening the .38 Special.

Can a rossi 38 special shoot 357 ammo?

Nope. 357 magnum cartridge is too long, and too powerful.

What is the difference between a 38 special bullet and a standard 38?

There isn't a difference. Mainly because .38 Special IS the standard .38. The "Special" in .38 Special is simply a marketing word. The term was used to distinguish it from the earlier .38 Colt, which is now obsolete. In modern terminology a ".38" is an abbreviation of .38 Special. Now, just in case you did not ask the question you meant to... Another common question is the difference between .38 Special and .357 Magnum. The .357 Magnum was designed as an "enhanced" version of the .38 Special allowing more powder to be stored in the casing and thus deliver more power to propel the bullet. The .357 Magnum is much more powerful and has much higher gas pressures, and thus it is not safe to shoot a .357 Magnum out of a gun designed for .38 Special. Fortunately most modern .38 Special revolvers are designed so that the longer .357 Magnum will not fit in the cylinder. The reverse however is permissible as .38 Special can be fired in a gun intended for .357 Magnum because the magnum-gun is built much more sturdily than required to shoot a .38 Special.
