Ground hogs never attack unless they are incredibly bored but if they are they can take out a mid-sized dog. The best way to ensure that this doesnt happen is to prevent the groundhog from being bored by dropping treats and chewtoys down their holes. If they do plan on attacking they will dig holes just below the surface and when the dog falls in devour it. You if you see small depressions or dead grass in an area of your lawn that's where the ground hogs have layed traps. My advice is to keep your dog off the lawn until you've hired a professional ground hog hunter. Call the groun hog help line and ask fro Steve he can get you in touch with someone in your area.
If your dog sticks his nose down the groundhog's hole, then yes, the groundhog will indeed chomp down on your dog's nose. Then it is off to see the Vet.
Yes, if it feels threatened and are cornered they will.
A groundhog can possibly do damage to a medium size dog if it is provoked. Although small in size, groundhogs can attack causing possibly injury to a dog.
Possibly.

A groundhog would hog as much ground as a groundhog COULD if a groundhog could hog ground.
