Your Perentie is a very large, highly aggressive monitor. Up to 8 feet plus and 45 lb. The have a throat breathing adaptation that allows them to run for an extended period ... at a maximum of 25mph. Possibly the world's most intelligent reptile - can solve mazes etc. Talons for claws, venomous bite and a tail that can be used as a whip. Reaction speed that has to be seen to be believed. Can burrow and bury itself in a minute or two and also runup a tree / cliff. Not seen very often in the wild as it is gone before you get there. Eats small kangaroos. Classed as dangerous, requires 2 keepers in zoos as "can cause serious injury or death".
Probably not going to be real good with the kids.
