I don't know about the magnets but it is obvious that plants grow toward light if you ever see them in the Spring, all new plants are usually leaning in the direction from which the sun hits them.
As long as the roots are in the ground the plant will grow towards the light.
Plant roots generally grow in the soil. In the case of aquatic plants, they are already in the water and do not need to grow toward it.
Green plants respond to the stimulus of light. Most stems and leaves grow towards light. HINt: If you have never noticed a plant that has sat in a sunny window for to long always bends towards the light.
Towards. As in, phototropism. The tendency of plants to grow towards light.
A plant does not grow upwards. A tropism is the growth of a plant in response to a stimulus. This means a plant does not grow upwards, it grows towards a stimulus which in most cases is light. Try it out, put a plant in a dark closet with a light on one side and watch the plant grow towards the light. The results should be clear after a number of days. The plant's response to light is known as phototropism. Hope I helped :)
Plants need light and they will grow towards where they receive an optimal amount; plants will face where the light is. You can experiment on your own by growing your own plant and using a desk lamp as the light source. As the plant grows, it will lean towards and face the light source directly.
Growth towards light is regulated by hormones called auxins. Auxins stimulate growth in the area of the plant that they are found and are produced by the tip of a stem. In sunlight they break down. As such there are more auxins on the shaded side of the plant. This will cause more growth on one side of the plant which will make it grow towards the light.
There is a plant hormone called auxins. In a plant such as a sunflower, the auxins will distribute themselves on the dark side of the plant where they will cause the the expulsion of H+ ions decreasing the Ph of the cells on the dark side of the plant. This decrease in Ph will cause a weakening of the cell wall and swelling will occur ultimatly allowing the plant to move and organize itslef towards sun light.
Phototropism is a plant's growth response to a light source, determining which direction it grows in. Positive Phototropism is the tendency for a plant to grow towards the light; Negative Phototropism is when it grows away from the light.
The plant will simply grow towards the light soursce. Also without light it'll go all white and pale and weird and eventually die... This is because in the wild it's survival of the fittest, plants need light and if they don't grow towards the light, another plant may block it out...
put more light
Plants will always grow towards the light source. Turn the pot a quarter turn every day and it will grow straight.
