∙ 12y agoNo. Possums are insectivorous and herbivorous, meaning they only eat plants and insects, depending on the species. They will not eat any sort of meat.
Possums are different to the opossums of North America.

∙ 14y agoProbably not, but in a fight between a possum and a cat, the two animals would be fairly evenly matched. Possums are not natural hunters like cats are, so the possum would be likely to come off second best. On the other hand, the sheer defence mechanism could kick in, resulting in a very violent possum which could do considerable damage with its claws and teeth.

It is highly unlikely a cat would eat a possum, but it might try eating a possum joey. In Australia, possums are at much greater risk from dogs than they are from cats. True possums - those native to Australia - are shy creatures that would rather run from a fight than confront a cat, but they could certainly lash out in self-defence.
