answer:

There are many folk-cures and hear-say remedies for growing plants, many if not most will end in weakening if not killing the plant, the best recourse is to know the plant, know what type of soil it likes, and what kind of nutrients it requires, (well balanced nutrient filled diet) the simple course of action would be: Water, Air, Sunlight [full/partial/defused] and a mild form of fertilizer, keeping in mind not to over water or under water.

Answer I did this for my science experiment in seventh grade. Yes, although it is slowing killing the plant with the sucrose, so it looks alive and looks like it is thriving compared to a normal plant, but it is really in a torterous (i saw this word answered here somewhere else) state between life and death. But I did this science experiment with Palm Plants, so it may have a different outcome with other plants.

No, soda pop does not make a plant grow faster.

Specifically, plants have need of nutrients in soluble form and within accessible distances from their roots. Soda pop may provide needed water as long as it is not dumped all at once onto the plant's surrounding soil. Apart judiciously parceled water, soda pop may provoke problems for the plant by attracting bacteria and fungi through sugars and sweeteners which take up soil space needed for such critical nutrients as nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

It doesn't help the plant grow faster, but it slows the death of the plant due to the sucrose in the beverage.

Yes. I used Sprite in my science experiment, and the seeds germinated.
