Will a slug eat a ant?

Not as a rule. There are many kinds of slugs and not all of them eat the same things. Most kinds of slugs generally eat either plants or animal and plant material that they find lying around. For example some kinds of slugs, if they find one of their own kind that has been squashed, will stop and eat it. Waste not want not. Squashed slug is full of protein, and protein is hard to come by.

A slug that crawls over a dead ant by accident might well eat it if it was not too full of formic acid or other irritant chemicals. Ants also are full of protein, fatty materials and other valuable nutrients.
