A snake will shed. It may take longer for some than others. Normally it only takes 3 days after their eyes shed, but some could take a few weeks. Also, seeing as their skin is air-tight and encased, there is no way for it to become infected. If a tear is made in their old skin, their new skin will not become infected either unless you have it in conditions it should not be in.
