It does not make a difference if you were a minor or not. Receive a speeding ticket and you can expect an increase in your insurance. This increase will be greater for certain groups, specifically teenage boys.

Most insurance companies consider anyone under 24 years old as a teenager. If you are in this category it is very important to contest any speeding ticket.

Most insurance carriers only consider your driving record for the last three years. You can get your MVR from your home state DMV to be certain that your record is now clear.

Getting a speeding ticket may or may not have an effect on insurance rates. The answer depends upon the number of "points" that accompanies conviction of the ticket. This generally depends upon the extent to which you were exceeding the posted speed limit. Of course, all of this assumed that you are convicted or plead guilt to the offense. If there is no conviction or no plea of guilty, there mere issuance of the ticket will have no impact.

If you are convicted or plead guilty, the increase in your premium will be, in part, a function of the number of points assessed. It also depends upon the number of points that you had at the time the new points were assessed.

Finally, auto insurers file "underwriting guidelines" with the states in which they conduct business. These define the manner and conditions under thich they accept applicants for insurance, and how they are treated once they are insured. By that I mean circumstances such as contemplated by the question: things such as how points affect premiums.

Does a speeding ticket affect your insurance rates in Kansas?

Speeding tickets and other accidents and violations will affect your auto insurance rates no matter what state you are in. The speed at which you were speeding can also affect your rates. One minor ticket will make very little difference in your insurance rate. Some companies do not increase your rate for just one minor violation in a three year period. It depends on the insurance company and their regulations.

Will an in state speeding ticket from Colorado affect your auto insurance?

The speeding ticket will go on your driving record. As to whether or not it will increase your auto insurance rate is really up to your insurance company. Many companies will not increase your rate for one minor violation if you only have one on your record. Many states and insurance companies recognize a ticket at or over 20 mph over the speed limit as a major violation instead of a minor violation.

If you get a speeding ticket while driving somebody elses car will their insurance go high?

The fact that a driver gets a speeding ticket has nothing to do with the owner of the car(unless it's the speeders.) The vehicle owner's insurance company will never know about the ticket, but your's will (or your parents) if you're a minor and insured under your parent's insurance. However, if there's a reportable accident involved with the speeding ticket, then the owner of the vehicle,(I'm speaking only for New York State, not sure about others), will be considered responsible for the accident, since the insurance company will now know, but the speeding goes with the driver.

Will 1 ticket raise car insurance?

It depends on many factors. Each insurance company has their own rates. Often times one minor speeding or red light ticket will not cost you any additional premium. If the ticket is for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs that is probably different. If an accident is involved that is a bigger factor as well.

Will speeding ticket affect state farm insurance rate?

Normally it will. However, there are a lot of other factors that also effect your rates such as the type of car and even your credit rating. Usually for one minor speeding ticket in the last three years of ten mph or less over the limit your rates will not change. If you have more, then you can expect an increase. As a general rule it is a good idea to shop for auto insurance and also to fight any speeding tickets or take online traffic school if available.

In the state of Minnesota are speeding tickets under 10 mph now reported to car insurance companies?

In most state's, there is a point system that is used to determine if your insurance rate will go up from a speeding ticket. In the state of Minnesota, they do not use the point system. They will suspend or revoke a license depending on the circumstances. All tickets that are given are on your driving record, unless it is a parking ticket or a license plate warning or something minor like that. Therefore, an insurance company will have access to that information.
