yes the input shaft may be different. just check to see if the lengths are the same and check how many splines the out put shaft has. VERY EASY TO DO. if they are the same SWAP THEM OUT! make sure the cases are the same model number. look at the red tag on your transfer case. it should say np242j, np249j or np231j.
