8x video card will work on motherboard supporting only 4x speed, but will be limited to 4x mod.
Yes, at 4x speed.
Yes, but the card will only register at 4x AGP. You will not get the most out of the card with that mobo, but will still have great results.
Older cards such as the geforce2 and the riva tnt2 should work. Any card that will slot into an AGP slot should work, just make sure that it can run in 4x mode (Modern day AGP video cards run in 8x mode but some will also run in 4x mode)
No it won't work!
No. They are totally different on an electrical, physical, and protocol level. Attempting to insert a PCI-E card into an AGP slot, or vice versa, will likely damage both the motherboard and the card.
If you have an Agpx8 compatible motherboard you will be able to utilize an agpx8 video card if your mother board only goes to 4x then the 8x graphics card will automatically use the 4x setting 8x meaning more information/data being sent is always better .Agpx4 card will work on x8 slot

One of the only cards above 64mb that I've ever seen that supports AGP 4x. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NVIDIA-GeForce-FX5500-256MB-AGP-8x-4x-Video-card-5500_W0QQitemZ190257585474QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190257585474&_trkparms=72%3A1300%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 ^^ Is a 256mb graphics card that supports 4x and 8x AGP. Yes, it should do, but only at 4X. The video card (and it's drivers) ought to recognise the AGP's speed and will operate accordingly.
On that board there is a phyisical jumper on the motherboard that swiches between 4x and 8x agp that gforce card is a 4x natural 8x forced card meaning that it only will realy be used at a 8x speed in auto ajusting boards. you can download a bios flash for the a7n8x that will force your card to run at the 8x speed. He asked about the voltage, not the multiplier. Newer motherboards require 1.5v video cards, and an older 3.3v model might fry the motherboard. Your MX400 will work in the A7N8X-X, 1.5v. the agp setting for 2X 4X 8X is in the bios.
For the most part AGP 8x Cards WILL NOT work with a AGP 4x slot. The motherboard will only supply 1.5 volts of power to the card leaving the other half with no power and will not work properly.
AnswerYes.Added:Sometimes! Not all AGP 1x or 2x video cards will have the same connection type as 4x or 8x cards, some older cards will not physically fit in the slot for modern motherboards.
Video Cards that work with that motherboard are either AGP 4x or AGP 8x. See here for manufacturer info: http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=13&l3=56&model=217&modelmenu=1
