It depends in what area you're in, where there's a good reception, you'll get clear crystal image, but if the signal is poor, you'll still get some image which would be sort of crap. By the way, you can use a digital receiver which is really cheap and as all signals are digital, the image would be crystal clear even in the inside =)

My free view box doesn't work on my TV because I don't have an aerial on my house would an indoor aerial work?

It is unlikely that an indoor aerial will deliver a signal to drive a Freeview receiver. Digital television demands a good quality signal in order to decode it correctly. A poor analog signal would be shown by "snow" on the image. The same level of signal quality in a digital system would produce no picture at all. It might be worth trying an indoor aerial. You may be lucky enough to be in a strong signal area. If not, you may need to consider an external aerial.

Do you need an outside arial for a small freeview tv?

Freeview is the UK terrestrial digital television servce. It uses conventional television aerials but a Freeview tuner demands a good signal to operate. Although indoor aerials can sometimes work, the signal strength inside a home is much weaker than outside. Often, an indoor aerial will not give good or reliable results but it depends on the signal strength and how the building affects the signal. The only way to find out if an indoor aerial will work reliably is to try it and see. Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work at all or if only a handful of channels are found. Local aerial installation companies will have experience of the area and will be able to offer guidance based on your location.

What type of antenna is best for TV?

The best type of antenna for TV largely depends on your specific circumstances. For urban dwellers, an indoor, non-amplified antenna should be sufficient due to proximity to broadcast towers. However, for those living in rural or remote areas with weaker signals, an outdoor or amplified indoor antenna might be necessary to ensure the reception of a broad range of channels. Always consider factors like distance from broadcast towers, the terrain, and any possible obstructions between you and the towers before deciding on the best antenna for your TV.

Are broadcast digital TV signals affected by weather conditions?

Hello - from all my research it is clear that even digital signals can be degraded by weather conditions. Contrary to statements that claim 'you either get a digital signal or not', you can receive digital signals that have been weakened by weather conditions. I live in Ohio, and am fortunate to be able to use a plain 'bowtie' indoor antenna (no amplifier either) with my TV, and generally get excellent reception. However, when the weather includes heavy rain and especially high winds, my digital reception can randomly blank out, or the picture freezes, or shows random frozen pixels, or loses audio. Considering the high cost and very poor customer service of my local cable provider, I am more than happy to put up with my free, if occasionally less than perfect, digital reception. If you online search "weather conditions and digital TV reception", you can read supporting information. Cheers.
