No because when you have the key switched to the on position even before you start the car the relay switch triggers the pump to turn on and deliver fuel up to the engine to be combusted. If the switch is not working then it cannot trigger to turn the fuel pump on and deliver fuel to the proper location
If the fuel pump relay is defective the fuel pump will not run.
Fuel pump will not run.
No, not unless the relay is stuck closed. It will then run but the pump will overheat and self destruct.
Blown fuse or bad fuel pump relay.
Fuel pump fuse or relay are bad.
There isn't a fuel pump reset switch,if the pump doesn't run then it is either a bad fuel pump or relay
If you're talking about a fuel pump, then yes, a failed fuel pump or fuel pump relay will keep a fuel-injected car from running.
Bad fuel pump relays aren't very common but i do run across them every now and then. If the relay is bad one of 2 things will happen - if the relay is "open" (unable to complete the circuit)then the fuel pump will not run and the car will fail to start. If the fuel pump is shorted (the contacts in the relay are fused together)then the fuel pump will never shut off...even if you shut the car off and the key is in your hand the fuel pump will continue to run until the battery is drained of voltage. Then the car will not start without charging the battery or "jumping" the car. About the worst thing a bad fuel pump can do to your car is cause it not to start. It could possibly ruin your battery if the battery sits discharged too long. However the odds on that are not great. Just charge the battery - change out the bad fuel pump relay and everything should be OK.
If you turn on the ignition key without starting the engine you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds. If you do not check the fuel pump fuse and replace the relay before proceeding. If the fuse is good and the relay is good then you know the pump is more than likely defective.
Have a 1989 Honda accord with carburetor, My problem is will not run, Put gas in carburetor and it will run, Changed the fuel pump still no go, From my Research sound like fuel pump relay, What I need to know is the fuel pump main relay and the fuel cutoff relay the same thing? Thanks in advance for any help. Sound like your fuel pump relay is not working. Did you check your fuses? Fuel pump relay and fuel pump cut off are NOT the same thing. If you replaced the fuel pump is more like your fuel pump RELAY is bad. QUESTION. did you replaced the 2 filters on you gas line?? maybe you have a plugged filter. hope this help you some.
The crankshaft position sensor has nothing to do with the fuel pump but a defective fuel pump relay and fuel pump fuse will and also a missing ground circuit will cause it not to run
AnswerFuse blown, bad fuel pump, bad fuel pump relay, or defective wiring. the fuel pump relay controls everything on this particular problem. Ignition spark and fuel pump all link to this relay wich is located underneith dash board on driver side held by one screw far on left side, its a pretty big relay. five wires go to it.
