Now, I'm not sure if I can specifically say this for hamsters only, but pretty much, based on experiences, I can tell that the reason why animals in general have fur, is to keep it warm.

This is relatively a good and bad at the same time question. Really to tell the truth, they need to hear, but they can technically live without ears, they will need it to hear predators, but it has very good sense of smell. Hope this help!

Yes, they do lower their ears while grooming, and also as a sign of aggression. If your Hamster lowers its ears at you, you might be about to get a little snip. But my hamster used to do it when I pet her, that could mean its happy. It depends on your specific breed and personality of the hamster.

A hamster has very good hearing, and if their ears are perked up, they are listening for potential dangers or trying to hear/ distinguish what sound they just heard. This is usually displayed with them standing on their hind legs, being very still, ears rigid.
