Service and/or bravery during their time in the army.
I joined the Army to get the military service time that i needed to join the Coast Guard. If you're looking for a military career, you should look at a different branch of service.
selective service act
For lower enlisted, yes, as those are automatic promotions based on time in service. So, if you're a Specialist or lower, you shouldn't lose rank. If you're going to the Regular Army from the Army Reserve as an NCO, you should expect that you'll loose at least one rank/grade.
If you are in the Army your fulltime job is to be in the Army. If you are in the Reserves you go through the training then go back to your civillian life until needed (train one weekend a month). Two separate gigs- army and army reserves. Lots of people will stay in reserves after their time as full time.
I think what is meant is "If you sign up with the army to pay for college, do you spend service time after or before completing college?" Well, the ROTC program offered by the army allows you to give time (usually 4 years) *after* you finish college.
Enlistment time varied with the times. During the republic the term was 16 years. Augustus raised the service time to 20 years with 5 more years of "evocati" service. This means that although the man was discharged from the army, he could be recalled in an emergency.Enlistment time varied with the times. During the republic the term was 16 years. If varies on the time of service but on average according to the 2010 US Army pay scale an O-6 COL with 14 years on service makes $7,537.80 a month.
Pay is determined by pay grade and time in service, not by MOS.
Elvis served with the US Army in Germany. At the time of his service, there was no war in Germany.
Their pay is according to their rank/pay grade and time in service.
Salaries in the army are based on rank and time in service. Wages are not job specific. To find out more, do a google search for 2009 army pay chart.
