That is possible but they won't work sometimes to many times.
Some do, mostly ones with fuel injection.
It has 1 fuel pump in each fuel tank. Some trucks have duel tanks.
With some wehicles, yes, others no.
There is only one fuel pump, except for some diesels, which have a lift pump in the tank.
The plastic impeller that pumps fuel MELTS when there is no fuel to keep it cool! problem is no fuel pressure. Replace the fuel pump.
More than likely it is a fuel problem. When was the last time you changed you're fuel filter? Some times the pumps get weak and when the truck is under load the pump can't keep up. But don't roll out electrical.
All fuel pumps make some noise. If the noise is much louder than other fuel injected cars your fuel pump is defective. Fuel pumps that make noise normally fail before long.
Some do. I'm about 90% sure your car does not. The part that controls the fuel pressure is called a fuel pressure regulator. Most are located near the engine, but some import and Chrysler's have a 'returnless' system, where the regulator is built into the fuel pump module assembly, in the gas tank.
You can backyard mechanic test it by removing the fuel line from the carb and crank it over, if fuel pumps out the line, the pump would seem ok. The manner in which the fuel pumps is critical, it must pump with some pressure not just ooz out.Be careful where the fuel spills also to keep safe.
About 3 to 4 seconds. Some fuel pumps prime faster than others. When the fuel pump is going out it will sound like it is struggling and take alittle longer to prime.
In most cases it is due to not changing the fuel filter every 15,000 miles. In some cases it is a bad ground or the connector in the tank at the pump.
The fuel pump will be somewhere in the fuel line. By tracing that line, you can find the pump. Note that some pumps are actually located inside the fuel tank, so if you don't find the pump somewhere in the fuel line, it's probably in the tank.
