That depends entirely on what Western and Islamic Powers are willing to do about it. Fundamentally, a Western or Arab ground assault would be sufficient to eliminate them militarily, but the ideology of Islamism and Jihadism is incredibly prevalent, so it is killing those ideologies, which hold that an Islamic theocracy is a worthy goal, that require a much more intense effort.
