yes, and that either means it is too small or is stressed out and crawled out of shell or broke it, it is highly dangerous for the hermit crab and will die of depression or their stress levels
Not unless the crab leaves its shell and the mantis is big enough to lift the bare crab. So it would be very unlikely.
Sometimes mites can kill hermit crabs it depends if the mites are all over the cage and on the hermit crabs. if there are only like 3 it should not harm them as much. mites are tiny white bugs they can also be black. mites will harm the hermit crab if there are tons. just clean your tank if you mites. by Josie j
No, hermit crab mites are specific to hermit crabs and will not harm you or your pets.
It will either stay out of it's shell or have a shell fight with another crab to take its shell. I do not recommend letting your crab have no shell for very long though, it makes them very vulnerable and stressed out making them a good target for other crabs to harm.
It digs down into the ground, and buries itself while it sleeps. God made hermit crab perfectly. His hard protective shell protects him from harm, but just in case, he buries himself to sleep.
lots of h2o
It just means the hermie like the smaller one better, no harm done, when it gets bigger it will just move out don't worry
Hermit crabs do not 'go to the bathroom'. In other words hermit crabs DO NOT POO. I have had hermit crabs, and I know they definitely don't poo. Hermit crabs use all the energy and nutrients from their food and turn it into vitamins for the body. Hermit crabs are great pets, as there is no stinky poo to clean out!!!
Painting a hermit crab's shell can harm the animal by disrupting its ability to breathe and causing stress. The paint can contain toxic chemicals that may be harmful if ingested or absorbed through their skin. Additionally, altering their shell can interfere with their natural behavior and instincts, which could lead to health issues or even death. It's best to allow hermit crabs to choose their own shells naturally.
Adding another hermit crab to a tank with a more aggressive or "murderous" crab could lead to stress or harm to the new crab. Hermit crabs are social creatures, but compatibility depends on the individual personalities and the environment. If you decide to introduce another crab, ensure there are plenty of hiding spots and space to reduce potential aggression. Monitor their interactions closely to ensure everyone's safety.
it uses its very hard shell
Its shell and its pincers (particularly the larger pincer) help protect it.
