Black foil would attract heat and burn the potato if you put it in on a too high heat, or left it in too long, it would be very unpredictable but silver foil reflects heat, and cooks it slower and is easier to tell when you have to take it out : it's just easier!
You wrap the piece of bread in a piece of foil. You can also leave a mirror a few feet away if the reflection is on the foil! I'm not sure how long that would take though!

i think that whatever you are cooking will burn because of the sun reflecting off of the foil and the heat will cook the food.
