Rusetfur was growing old and weakening with age. During the battle between Thunderclan and Shadowclan (Which was caused by Tigerstar and Hawkfrost convincing Ivypaw that claiming back land that Firestar had given away would prove her clan stronger than Shadowclan thought they were. Ivypaw went on to convince Firestar that she had seen Shadowclan taking over their part of the forest in a dream sent by Starclan.) Russetfur leaped ontop of Firestar, digging her claws/teeth into the back of his neck. She only meant to hurt him (I think..) but Lionblaze saw that his leader was dying due to loss of blood and oxygen. Lionblaze raced over to the two, hurling Russetfur off of Firestar with the power of his blow.
