It depends. It's the game developers choice whether they want to let players play multiplayer for free or not. But most multiplayer games on the PS4 will require a PS Plus subscription. I know this may sound bad, but still. Each month if you're with PS Plus, Sony puts on a free game on the PS Store, and it will be a good one each month. Hope this roughs up the idea.

To get Call of duty 4 multiplayer to work you need to first establish an internet connection with your game console. You can do this Via cable or wireless internet roater. After you have established a connection sign up to your consoles netwok. Eg. Xbox live or PlayStation network. Then simply turn on the game and you should be able to use online mode. Side note to play online with your playstion 3 you need to be logged in with the correct user which has your playstation network information. Same goes for Xbox live.
