I have seen people use spray in box liner it is suppose to be scratch and chip resent. But I suppose powder coating will work.

Normally you will start to hear a loud grumbling sound from underneath the mower when the blades are engaged. With the mower shut off, release the tension from the belt for the blades. Raise the deck so you can grab the blades from the bottom. You should not be able to rock the blades from side to side or up and down. If you can then you probably have a bad spindle. You can do this for wach of the spindles to check them all.
Where is the oil drain plug Briggs and Stratton quantum 6.0 hp?
It is either on the side of the engine at the very bottom next to the deck, or it is under the mower on the engine block.
How do i remove and reattach the mower deck on my craftsman riding lawn mower?
park mower on level ground or concrete. lower deck all the way down to ground. lay on your side on the right side of mower. several locking pins need to be pulled out of their slots. lay these to the side and do not misplace them. one cable and washer on top of deck need their locking pin removed. second locking pin needs to be removed from same cable guide way toward rear of deck. this makes 4 pins in all from right side. lay on left side of mower on the ground. three pins on this side need to be remove in same manner. raise height lever all the way back up and this will make it possible to clear mower when you slide deck out from under mower to work on deck . after work is complete, slide deck back under mower as close to location it was in when you started. connect all parts and reinsert pins in reverse order of how you took apart.

lift the yoke gaurd door and make sure that the front yoke is turned so that the split side is up, then pull the rotator handle. the deck will then drop. then make sure that the mower deck is at the lowest position. go to the front of the mower deck and lift by the two handles until it locks in place. the locking pin is on the left side as you face the mower from the front. be prepared it weighs about 175 lbs. these instructions apply to the 60" deck. good luck.
How do you remove deck from John Deere lx178?
You first need to set the mower deck setting at high noon to read "blank". More or less between the 1" and 3.5" setting. Then pull deck release arm to allow for the deck to drop to the ground. Once locked into the down position, you need to release the U locks(that are spring loaded) located on the back half, and on both sides of the mower deck. This will allow for the arms that you have unlocked to be retracted up for clearance later. After that you must release the tension bar for the belt pulleys located on top of mower deck, left hand side, and remove the belt connected to the engine pulley located towards the front. After that, you must unlatch the front U-bar from the mower deck. After this is completed. Pull the mower Deck ARM back up, to the position normal for traveling. This will give you clearance to slide the mower deck out from the right side (chute side).

There is no drain plug as you might expect with a car's oil pan. The oil is drained by attaching a plastic tube (comes with mower at time of purchase) to a connector at the bottom side of the engine, above the mower deck. Turn the nut to loosen the connector attach the tube and continue to turn the nut. Tilt the mower deck by raising the opposite side of the mower deck and the old oil will flow through the tube. Once dry manually tighten the connector, remove the tube and then use a wrench to snuggle tighten the connector.

As long as they are close to the same year and model, yes. I have two decks side by side, one 38" and one 42", and all the brackets are the same. The belt will need to be changed for a longer one, though.

The deck on a lawn mower is the shaped metal shroud that keeps the spinning blade(s) from being exposed to the user during operation. Many manufactures use the shape of the deck to create a mild vacuum that draws the blades of grass up toward the mower blade(s). After mowing the lawn, some grass will be stuck on the underside of the deck. If the lawn is somewhat long and wet, the grass will build up on the inner surface of the deck to a point where only the blade(s) have clearance. This stops the deck shape from performing its designed function. Deck cleanout is performed while the mower is NOT running. Turn the mower on its side and scrape the excess grass from out of the underside of the deck.

The blade on that side may be dull or bent due to hitting something. Could also be that the mower deck is not level, or a tire on the opposite side may be low.
